All of our Instructors are have ambulance backgrounds and teach in a fun and lively way and focus on what you really need to know. We want to focus on as much practical work as possible during the class- all your skills assessments are by demonstration to the instructor, short exam and online pre-course study.

Who should do this course?

This course is suitable for anyone that requires a HLTAID003 Provide First Aid qualification for employment, educational or personal interest. This is also the latest version of Senior First Aid.

This is a nationally accredited Senior First Aid qualification that is recognised throughout Australia and includes the CPR component. This course covers the new Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.


Successful students will be awarded their Statement of Attainment (Certificate) and be given a First Aid manual to take home.

HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (Valid for 1 year)

HLTAID002 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support (Valid for 3 years)

HLTAID003 Provide First Aid (Valid for 3 years)

Enrolment And Pre-course Online Study Requirements

All students will be provided with their own personal online portal space to complete the required enrolment and blended self-paced pre-course study requirements. Most students should allow up to 1-2 hours to complete this. Previous students with a current or recently expired certificate of less than 3 months will be be exempted from the pre-course workbook. Students must also supply a valid USI number that can be verified by us against the governments USI database.

We also provide a client level portal that allows the client organiser to view and store first aid certificates, check expiry dates for all employees and many more features that can make managing your companies first aiders much easier.

The duration of the face to face classroom session is 6 hours and student must be physically able to work at floor level to complete 2 minutes of CPR and respond to an emergency situation where there may be risk to life. These are Australian Government requirements that are written into the HLTAID Training Packages. Therefore, students who are unable to satisfy the physical requirements of the course cannot be issued with a statement of attainment, even if the qualification is a necessary part of their employment conditions. Any student with concerns about the physical requirements should contact us prior to enrolment to discuss this.

Multiple Choice Question Paper

  • State/Territory regulations, first aid codes of practice and workplace procedures
  • Legal, workplace and community considerations
  • Considerations when providing CPR
  • Principles and procedures for First Aid management
  • Basic anatomy and physiology

Practical assessment by demonstration, observation and oral questions

  • Single rescuer Adult CPR using adult manikins placed on the floor for at least 2 minutes duration with a rotation with a second rescuer with minimal interruption to CPR
  • Single rescuer Infant CPR with an infant manakin at floor level or a firm surface
  • Defibrillation by using an AED and following the prompts
  • Asthma management and medication
  • Epi-pen and anaphylaxis management
  • Managing the unconscious breathing casualty
  • Choking
  • Bleeding and shock
  • PIT for snake and spider bites
  • RICE for sprains
