This course is for workplace Fire Warden- PUAWER005 Operate as part of an emergency control organisation and is combined with Confine small workplace emergencies PUAWER008B (Fire Extinguisher use) for a full day course. You can also have some staff attend for just the Fire Extinguisher training if they are not going to be fire wardens.

Students will be assessed by practical demonstrations, group work and discussions, oral questions and observation.

Who should do this course?

Fire wardens who might deal with emergency situations such as fight small fires,fire evacuations, bomb threats, gas leaks and adverse weather events. This unit covers the competency required to implement the emergency response specified in the workplace emergency procedures or specified by a person at a higher level in the emergency control organisation. People who undertake this work will be working within the command, control and coordinate structure of the emergency control organisation. We use hi-tec digital fire fighting simulation systems so students experience a broad range of fire types.

This unit has been developed to cover the broad range of emergencies and workplaces as considered in Australian Standard 3745-2010.

Outcome

Successful students will awarded their Statement of Attainment (Certificate), email version and printed wallet card posted to the student or the client contact. Students also get a manual to take home.

PUAWER008 Confine Small Workplace Emergencies (Fire Extinguisher Use)

It is recommended that this qualification is renewed annually inline with industry guidelines.

Student Assessment

Students will be assessed by practical demonstrations, group work and discussions, oral questions and observation.

  • Emergency teams & emergency plans
  • Workplace emergency procedures and relevant standards
  • Emergency station operation and signals
  • Prepare for and identify and assess the emergency
  • Safely confine emergencies where possible
  • Portable fire extinguishers and other portable fire fighting equipment
    to extinguish simulated fires;
  • Report workplace emergency response.
